LIC Bima Sakhi Yojana
The Bima Sakhi Yojana by the LIC is a stipendiary scheme exclusively for women. It empowers rural women financially by creating new livelihood opportunities and contributing to the broader goal of financial inclusion by making insurance accessible in rural areas across India.
Under this scheme, training is provided to eligible women for 3 years on LIC’s insurance products, financial literacy tools and policies and the need for insurance. They will receive a stipend during the training period, i.e. for 3 years, and they can work as LIC insurance agents after 3 years.
Once they become LIC insurance agents, they can educate their communities on insurance and insurance benefits and help families secure insurance policies that suit their needs. They will act as financial advisors, guiding families toward better financial management. LIC plans to enroll 1,00,000 women as Bima Sakhis under this scheme.
